5 Benefits of Using Milk In Your Skincare Routine

Using Milk, especially raw or sour milk, when used topically, offers many benefits to your skin. It can moisturize and exfoliate the skin. It can also fight against the wrinkles, lighten the uneven skin, and fade the sun. Even cold milk can be used to soothe a sunburn.

1. Fights Wrinkles

With age, fine lines and wrinkles not only make their presence felt, but also make your skin thinner and less firm. But sometimes, due to factors such as poor skin care or excessive sun exposure, this skin aging takes place ahead of its time. But milk’s goodness can help you fight these skin aging signs. Milk contains an alpha hydroxy acid known as lactic acid that can improve the health of the skin.2 According to one study, when participants used lactic acid on their skin twice a day for 3 months, it reduced the appearance of wrinkles and lines, smoothed the skin and improved its firmness and thickness.

2. Works As A Gentle Exfoliate

To remove dead skin cells that make your teint dull and lifeless, it is important to exfoliate skin regularly. Milk can work as a gentle exfoliator thanks to lactic acid that dissolves dead skin cells without any of the harmful effects you would see with harsh chemical exfoliators.

For a natural and gentle exfoliation treatment, apply milk directly to your face or even add it to your bath water. You may want to exfoliate 3–4 times a week if you have thick, oily skin. More sensitive skin requires only once or twice a week to exfoliate.
